A DRIVER has veered off Topp Way this evening, the same road a 65-year-old died trying to cross on Saturday.

No one is believed to have been hurt in the incident, which saw a young couple in a silver hatchback drive off the street and through some bushes at around 8pm.

The car was travelling down St George's Road and turning at the lights onto Topp Way when it crashed.

Two people were seen after the incident, a young male and a young female, both appeared to be unharmed and were helped by passers-by.

No disruption to traffic is believed to have been caused by the incident.

On Saturday, a man, though to be Colin Olawumi, died after being hit by a White Range Rover at a crossing at the other end of the street.

“We have a man in custody but our investigation has really only just begun so I am hoping that anyone who witnessed the incident will come and tell us what they saw.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage which catches the incident or the white Range Rover Sport prior to the collision.”
