YOU could be walking like an Egyptian this bank holiday when Market Place comes alive with four days of spectacular pharoah-themed fun.

The unique event will take place from Friday, August 24th to Monday, August 27 to celebrate this year's Bolton Food and Drink Festival.

Visitors to the centre will be able to enjoy free face painting, where they will be made up as an Egyptian Pharaoh or Queen.

Children will also have the opportunity to receive 'slithering' sweet treats for free. The public will also be able to get their hands on a free Egyptian face mask so they really can walk like an Egyptian.

Nikki Wilson-Cook, centre manager at Market Place said: “We’re extremely excited about this year’s Bolton Food and Drink Festival which promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

"The event draws in thousands of people from across the region, so it is great to be able to contribute to that and add another dimension to people’s visit to the event.

"We can’t wait to welcome everyone!”

Customers will also be able to see a spectacular cake designed to look like a mummy in a gold sarcophagus by award-winning cake artist, Rosie Dummer.

Also known as Rosie Cake Diva, she is currently starring in Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers TV show.

Bolton Council has been working with Rosie to develop the cake and she will be at the centre on Friday, August 24 to unveil the cake and meet fans.

Celebrity chef Michael Caines will also be in attendance to witness the tasty unveiling.

Children can interact with a golden eagle character, and a mummy shrouded in bandages will be posing for pictures for the ultimate Egyptian themed selfie.

The Bolton Museum, which has moved into the centre during the redevelopment of their existing site, will be hosting sand and water excavations and kids craft workshops, where children can make masks and keyrings to take home.

They will also be running interactive storytelling, where children can completely immerse themselves in a time when Pharaohs ruled.

Caffe Dolce will be getting into the spirit of the event and will unveil a pyramid made exclusively of scones on Friday, August 24.

The Light will also be showing one of the Mummy films across the weekend in The Vaults so visitors can truly be drawn into the spirit of Egyptian life.
