A JUNIOR soccer team has received a brand new kit thanks to the local McDonald's franchisee and 1966 World Cup hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst.
The Darwen AFC Under 8’s boys team was presented with the strip by David Duncan who has six burger restaurants across East Lancashire.
It was supplied through the McDonald’s FA Accredited Club Kit Scheme spearheaded by the firm's director of football, Sir Geoff.
Mr Duncan, who operates the McDonald's outlets in Blackburn and Darwen said: “Darwen Youth is a fantastic example of a grassroots club with a real community spirit. It’s important that we support local teams to help them create the best possible experience for young aspiring players
Sir Geoff said: “The importance of grassroots football should not be underestimated – especially the hard work that volunteers put in each week."
