A PRIMARY school athletics team has been celebrating a landmark sporting achievement this year after winning its 10th consecutive championship title as well as a third county title.
The team at Legh Vale Primary School won the 10th title at the St Helens Sportshall Athletics Championships and recently won the Merseyside County Finals – the third title in as many years.
Headteacher Andrew Howard said “I am extremely proud of the girls and boys in our athletics team and the fact that they have reached such a special milestone is no coincidence.
We have many gifted, enthusiastic and hard-working children at Legh Vale. and we try to give opportunities to all our pupils over a range of different sports.
“Athletics, with its multi-event format is very appealing to young children and therefore very popular in PE lessons and after school clubs.
“However, to be able to boast such a successful record, of course you need talented athletes, but we also have a dedicated coaching team made up of teachers and volunteers who are passionate about giving our children the very best opportunities.”
