SEVEN volunteers from Home-Start Rossendale, Burnley and Hyndburn have completed their training and are available to support families across East Lancashire.
Rachel Gosling, the Home-Start co-ordinator who led the training of these new volunteers, said: "Our preparation course is a comprehensive 40-hour training programme completed by volunteers to equip them with the necessary skills to support families.
"It includes elements on child development, communication skills and safeguarding.
"During the course, our new volunteers reported an increase in their understanding of Home-Start and the role of a volunteer, the variety of community services on offer to support families and have learnt new skills."
The organisation's volunteers provide support to families with a range of needs either through home visiting or at regular weekly groups.
