VIOLET-GRACE’S dad will be setting off on a cycling challenge from London to Paris in 24 hours on Saturday to raise money towards the charity set up in her memory.

Violet-Grace Youens, aged four, was killed on March 25 after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Prescot Road.

Despite their grief her parents donated her organs, saving two lives and have since held different events to raise money and awareness for organ donation – including the Ride 4 Violet-Grace.

As well as the events, her dad Glenn Youens, 30, has challenged himself to runs and bike rides in order to raise funds for Violet-Grace’s Gift, a charity set up their daughters memory and The Isabella-Rose Foundation.

However this ride will be his biggest challenge yet - with them cycling from Big Ben to the Eiffel Tower in 24 hours.

Glenn said: “I am a bit nervous but everyone has been doing so well, even when it’s hard to organise something like this its rewarding when we are riding and I can see Violet’s face on the back of our shirts.

“It’s a big motivator for us because we can see her throughout our ride.

“There’s 15 of us in total taking part in the ride which will leave Big Ben at 3pm and arrive at the Eiffel Tower the next day hopefully around 3pm.

“It’s hard doing things like this, but its good to have something to focus on when things get difficult and Violet is a huge inspiration.

“She will be with us all during the ride.”
