IT’S good to see the Ironman Foundation recognising two Bolton-based groups whose work has been rightly highlighted recently.
The Bolton Mountain Rescue Team and the Rivington Gardens Trust each received almost £4,000 in recognition of their efforts during the moorland fires on Winter Hill which affected the route for the Ironman UK competitors.
Managing Director Declan Byrne said they were “hugely impressed” by the work of those fighting the fires and the “incredible efforts” of the fire and rescue services.
We often take such dedication for granted but everyone agrees their efforts to save our countryside have been almost super-human.
