A WOMAN in her 70s has been left with an injured arm after she was robbed on Westfield Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the woman had her handbag stolen at 10.35pm last night Thursday, July 26 after she was approached from behind by an unknown man.

The man grabbed the handbag causing the woman to fall to the floor and injure her arm.

The man then made off on foot towards North John Street car park.

He has been described as white, of thin build and around 5ft 8in tall.

He was wearing a large white hooded top with the hood up.

An investigation is underway and enquiries are CCTV ongoing in the local area.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the Westfield Street area at around 10.30pm last night and saw a man fitting the description or has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch.”
