PUTT your swing and golf skills to the test as kind-hearted golfers are invited to take part in the Mayor of Bury's annual charity golf tournament.

Now in its 29th year the competition will be held at Harwood Golf Club on September 6 and will this year fundraise for the Mayor's charities Grace's Place children's hospice and The Fed.

Founded in 1929 by four shopkeepers the par 70 golf course lies just off Roading Brook Road offering stunning views of the West Pennine Moors.

The tournament, organised by Bury Sports and Physical Activity Service, is a four-person Stableford with a shotgun start at 2pm.

There is a maximum handicap of 36 for prospective female entrants and 24 for male entrants.

Only the best two scores from each hole will count, meaning players are encouraged to invite their friends and colleagues to join their team, gain experience and have fun.

The tournament will also include traditional games Nearest the Pin and Longest Drive, as well as new challenges including Beat the Pro, and will be followed by a three course meal.

Refreshments will be on offer throughout the day at the club's lounge and bar, and players can use the 300-yard practice area and short game area with target greens, bunkers, practice putting green, chipping area and warm-up net.
