FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a house fire in Walmersley during the early hours of this morning.
Crews attended the scene, in Thames Close, at about 1.20am, after receiving reports that the kitchen was on fire.
Upon arriving, they discovered the occupants were already outside the house.
No one was injured in the fire, which is believed to have been caused by a faulty fridge freezer, and left the kitchen damaged.
Steve Urmston, watch manager at Bury Fire Station, said: "Three pumps attended, from Bury, Ramsbottom and Whitefield.
"The smoke detector had raised the alarm. The occupants did everything right, they got out and called us as well.
"The damage was contained to the kitchen. There was smoke and fire damage because it was an integrated fridge and freezer so we had to take all that out."
