Rovers’ international quartet are set to be given an extra week off with the rest of the squad reporting for pre-season on Sunday.

The four players didn’t finish their respective seasons until the weekend of June 2, just three weeks before Rovers report back for pre-season.

The remaining members of the squad will join up on Sunday as they head to the Oberwart district of Austria for a week-long training camp.

That will be the start of their six-week preparations for life back in the Championship, which will include six pre-season friendlies which start on July 8

All four internationals featured for their countries during the latest round of matches, with boss Tony Mowbray affording them extra time off given the shortage of the break before they to travel to Austria.

Derrick Williams and Darragh Lenihan both made their international debuts for the Republic of Ireland against France and USA respectively.

Those games were played on May 28 and June 2 respectively, while the duo were also involved when the Irish faced a Celtic XI as part of Scott Brown’s testimonial on May 20.

Charlie Mulgrew was involved in a South American double header for Scotland against Peru and Mexico.

The 32-year-old captained his country in the 2-0 defeat to Peru on May 30 and came off the bench in the loss against Mexico four days later.

On the same days as Mulgrew, Corry Evans started twice for Northern Ireland as they drew 0-0 in Panama before being beaten by Costa Rica.

Rovers are still waiting to make their first signing of the close season, but a squad of more than 20 players is expected to travel - including Bradley Dack who has shaken off the hamstring injury which cut short his season.

That will include young goalkeeper Andrew Fisher who was part of the party last summer who travelled to Salzburg.

Lewis Travis’ impressive breakthrough year will see him board the plane for the first time and he will likely be joined by fellow Academy graduates Scott Wharton, Willem Tomlinson and Joe Nuttall.

Rovers aren’t due to play a game during their time in the Austrian mountains, with their first friendly set for July 8.
