A LARGE cannabis farm has been discovered inside a four-storey house after police received a call from residents.

A raid was carried out at a property in Bolton Road West, Holcombe Brook, at about 9.30am on Wednesday — just 30 minutes after police received information about the cannabis farm.

Police said thousands of pounds worth of the Class B drug was found in plant form as well as some packaged up across all four floors of the building.

The discovery was made by officers in the Ramsbottom, North Manor and Tottington Pro-Active Team.

Insp Russ Magnall said: "Officers discovered a cannabis farm with mature plants and cannabis bagged up ready for sale.

"Enquiries are under way to trace the owner of the farm.

"As this incident has shown, we are grateful for the support of the community and we will act upon information we receive.

"We would ask residents in the area to please continue to be proactive.

"Our hunt for major criminals will never stop."

Police received a call from a Ramsbottom resident at about 9am on Wednesday. The Pro-Active team were already working in the area at the time.

The team was established in the Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor areas following a spate of burglaries in 2016.

Insp Jim Jones, Strategic Support Inspector for Bury Police, said: "An excellent result by our Ramsbottom, North Manor and Tottington team today.

"A significant cannabis find was taken out of the hands of criminals."
