A CRICKET club which has been the target of thieves and vandals has been hit again.

Bradshaw Cricket Club was burgled this week and two men were caught on CCTV, the club chairman believes the pair were working together with one around the back and another entering the premises.

Chairman Steve Dickinson said the incident had 'worried' the club and they were taking further action to guard against future crimes.

On Wednesday at about 10am a man entered the club bar and took an iPhone belonging to a cleaner which also had her debit cards.

Mr Dickinson said: "They've stolen the phone of one of our cleaning ladies, they have stolen it from behind the bar which they were cleaning.

"Fortunately, there's no damage to the club or the ladies.

"They took the iPhone and her debit cards were in there too and they were used in Bromley Cross in half an hour.

"Then they came back in a car later on at about 11am but there was nobody in the club then."

The club put images from their CCTV up on Facebook and Mr Dickinson said two men have since been arrested by police.

He added: "The power of social media is unbelievable."

In April the club launched an appeal on Facebook to find two men who had been checking cars in the car park and had smashed a car window and stolen items from inside.

In March, a group of more than 30 youths caused over £700 of damage, including breaking advertising hoardings surrounding the pitch, which had been installed just 18 hours earlier.

Mr Dickinson said: "The vandalism is something that's quietening down but what's worried us about this is they worked together as a team — one round the back and one round the front, we know it's a team.

"We have learned to lock ourselves in the club, which isn't ideal but we're concerned about our bar staff being in the club. These things happen, we are worried but we're not pressing the panic button as it were."

Measures are being taken by the club to guard against future thefts.
