Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl on a bus in Tooting.

The young teenage girl was on the Route 77 bus on her way home from school at 3.15pm on October 19 last year when she was attacked.

She was standing on the lower deck heading towards Tooting Broadway Station when the attacker went and stood next to her.

He spent the bus journey leaning into her and touching her inappropriately, brushing his hand over her leg.

The schoolgirl got off the bus as soon as she could, reporting his actions to a member of staff and the police were called in.

The suspect is described as an Asian male wearing glasses and short grey facial hair. He was wearing a black coat at the time of the offence and believed to be aged between 30-40 and around 5ft 7in.

Police Constable Jonathan Weller said: “No one should have to suffer sexual assault at any point in their lives. We will not tolerate any form of sexual incidents and we strongly urge anyone who has been a victim of this crime to call police and report it.”
