TWO hammer-wielding thugs smashed a woman driver's front windscreen in a terrifying road rage attack.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, was driving with her family at the junction of Moss Bank Way and Halliwell Road when a silver Vauxhall Astra pulled in front of her car.

She beeped at the Astra in response and following that, two men got out armed with a hammer. The victim had the windscreen on her blue Nissan van smashed, and her husband and 16-year-old son were assaulted.

Police investigating the road rage attack shortly after 11.15am on May 26 have released images of two men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Following the attack, the offenders then abandoned their vehicle and left the scene on foot in the direction of Halliwell Road.

PC Zach Keneally of GMP’s Bolton borough, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims. Fortunately they suffered only minor injuries, but were left badly shaken.

“We are following several lines of enquiry in relation to this incident, and would like to appeal to anyone with information to contact police.

“If anyone recognises the men in these photos, I would ask you to get in touch with police as soon as you possibly can.”

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 or 0161 856 5761, or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
