Danny Graham has signed a new one year deal to remain at Rovers for the 2018/19 season.

There is an appearance-based option to extend that for a further 12 months after he netted 17 goals in the 2017/18 season.

A one year option in Graham’s previous deal, which expired at the end of the month, didn’t apply following the club’s relegation in 2017 which meant Rovers had to begin talks over a fresh contract.

There was interest in the striker, who turns 33 in August, from Championship side Bolton Wanderers.

But Graham, who joined Rovers initially on loan from Sunderland in January 2016, was keen to stay at Ewood Park having forged a strong relationship with the supporters in his time with the club.

Graham has passed 150 career league goals in his career and has netted 37 times in 106 appearances for Rovers.

The deal represents a boost to Tony Mowbray who was keen to retain the services of his most experienced striker who came to the fore in the second half of their promotion winning campaign.

He struck up an excellent understanding with top scorer Bradley Dack and was a key figure in the dressing room.

Graham only played a bit part role at the start of 2017/18, but after the turn of the year he established himself as the club’s main striker and finished with 17 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions.
