THE BODY of a man was found in the grounds of a football club.
Police were called to Padiham Football Club at the Arbories Memorial Sports Ground on Well Street at around 8am on Saturday to reports that a man had been found hanged.
Paramedics attended after a call from the police, but the man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "We were called at around 8am on Saturday to reports a man had been found hanged at Padiham Football Club on Well Street.
"Officers and paramedics attended but sadly the man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been passed to the coroner."
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "Paramedics attended a scene at Padiham Football Club, but no one was taken to hospital."
The club declined to comment.
