ENGLAND boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed Stoke City's Jack Butland will start the Three Lions' final World Cup warm-up game against Costa Rica tomorrow night ahead of Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The Clarets No.1 has yet to make his international bow and, unless he comes off the bench at Elland Road, seems set to travel to Russia uncapped as England's third choice.

Jordan Pickford is set to start the World Cup after he was given the number one shirt but Butland will have a final opportunity to stake his claim in the international at Elland Road.

Southgate said: "For sure Jack Butland plays in goal."

Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will make his England debut at some stage in the game and Southgate said he would be prepared to throw any of his squad into a World Cup starting XI.

"I've not got a player who I wouldn't think twice about playing in the World Cup," added the Three Lions boss.

A fully-fit England squad trained at St George's Park ahead of their final friendly before the tournament.

Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli were all involved in the session on Wednesday morning, as was Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton who is on the standby list for the World Cup squad.
