SEAN Dyche is looking forward to 'breaking new ground' with Burnley next season.

But the Clarets chief insists it's his players who deserve all the credit for the strides Burnley have taken under his watch, insists he has been proud of his squad's efforts during every one of his campaigns at Turf Moor.

Under Dyche Burnley have continually moved forward and they will cap that next term with a first European campaign in 51 years.

"Breaking new ground here has become a theme of the different successes we’ve had over the last few years, different historical markers. But that comes with the good work the players have done," Dyche said.

"The players deserve an enormous amount of credit, for this season and every other season I’ve been here.

"There hasn’t been a season when I haven’t take pride in what the players have attempted to do, even in the season when it didn’t work out for us, they gave their lot.

"This season we’ve had a marvellous season. The players deserve enormous credit for the performances, the mental stability they showed through a tough spell after Christmas and to then get on the back of that five straight wins, it’s fantastic credit to the squad, not just the eleven I pick."

After staying up in 16th on 40 points last season the Clarets improved on that by nine places and 14 points this term.

They were battling away in the top seven for most of the season but although it was a campaign to remember Dyche believes there is still plenty to learn from it.

"Every season you learn something. As a manager, coaches, players," he said.

"It’s not always individual things. It’s the way the game works, the way you’re operating, how the team is improving.

"I don't think it’s any one given thing. It’s what comes with the experience.

"We’ve seen it last season, we went through it.

"We’ve delivered a better season this season, the players are maturing, the staff understand the Premier League better, we’ve adapted as a squad to what the challenge is and we’ve improved the squad. We lost some really goods players but the ones coming in have made a mark on the team."
