A STUDENT from East Lancashire has made it through to the live semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Oscar Williams, from Colne, is one of five members of a boy band called Made Up North who appeared on the show on Saturday night to be told they had been successful in making it through to the live shows.

The 12-year-old boy, who is a former student of Laneshaw Bridge Primary School, will now appear alongside his bandmates during one of the live shows this week in a bid to secure a place in Sunday night's final.

When telling the boys the good news, long time BGT judge Amanda Holden said: "Everyone has been so amazing which makes this job so hard.

"You all did really well on the day and I am delighted to tell you are are all through to the next stage."

The band, who were aged 10 and 11 at the time of recording, performed Sir Elton John’s song Electricity in front of a packed crowd at the Lowry Theatre in Salford during the first stage of the competition.

Amanda described the performance as ‘brilliant’ and said: “I can’t imagine my own daughter doing that. I think you’re so brave.”

Now, every night this week eight of the final 40 acts will perform live in the hope of impressing viewers at home in a bid to win the public vote.

Two acts from each night's show will make it into the Live Final on Sunday 3rd June, with a chance of winning a life changing £250,000 and a spot at this year's Royal Variety Performance.

Tune in to ITV 1 every night this week to watch all the talent take to the stage.
