CHILDREN at schools in Burnley and Nelson have helped celebrate the most popular books with Lancashire primary pupils,
Special ceremonies were held on Wednesday at Christ the King Roman Catholic Primary and Holy Saviour Roman Catholic Primary School.
The were among five Lancashire schools to mark the announcement of the 13th annual Fantastic Book Awards
Pupils aged nine to eleven from 140 schools across the county have read six books from a list of 30, during the autumn and spring terms before voting.
The winners were: Guy Bass' s 'Aidan Abet Teacher's Pet'; Swapna Haddow's 'Dave Pigeon '; Sam Hearn's 'Sherlock Holmes and the Disappearing Diamond'; A. L. Kennedy's 'Uncle Shawn and Bill and the Almost Entirely Unplanned Adventure'; and Mark Powers' Spy Toys
The main aim of the awards, organised by Lancashire County Council's School Library Service, is to support reading for pleasure and enjoyment by introducing newly-published fiction titles to nine to eleven year-old pupils.
