A MAN has been arrested after a dog’s head was found in Chorley.

Police were called around 10am on Sunday to the Great Meadow area after the animal’s head was found on the door handle of an address.

The dog was later confirmed to be a Yorkshire Terrier.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said : “Following extensive enquiries a 26-year-old man from Lancaster was arrested  on suspicion of burglary and animal destruction yesterday.

“He has since been bailed to June 20, pending further enquiries.

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone with any information to contact us.
