BETH Kenny is living the Hollywood dream after being accepted for a prestigious dance course in The States.

The Kearsley teenager is off to join the Hollywood Summer Tour in Los Angeles after her skills impressed talent-spotters from the company.

Beth, aged 16, has been awarded a scholarship of $500 and is now busy trying to rustle up thousands of pounds to finance the rest of her two-week trip in July.

She started dancing at the age of three doing baby ballet.

At five, Beth joined a fun dancing group where she spent two years perfecting new moves before going on to learn Latin and ballroom dancing at Sandham’s dance studio in Farnworth.

Beth danced competitively in this field for a short time and did likewise after she started learning street, commercial and modern dance.

She decided at an early age that she wanted to be a professional dancer and the Kearsley Academy pupil practices endlessly in the family's tiny dining room in Barrett Avenue in front of mum Karen and dad Andy.

Last month she and Karen went to London for a major dance event called Move It and while there Beth was picked out from a crowd of dancers and offered an invitation-only place on the HST.

Karen said: “She was absolutely thrilled to receive this amazing opportunity and it can only help her future career choice.

"The prize consists of her winning $500 towards the cost but as a family we now need to raise the funds for the rest of it which amounts to around £6,000. That will cover more tuition, a chaperone and flights for Beth and myself.

"As a family who have watched her determination and passion for dance and we are going to do all we can to make this dream come true for our tiny dancer.”

HST, founded in 2006, is an intensive programme for advanced dancers serious about learning about the commercial dance industry in Hollywood.

It aims to give each dancer all the tools needed to get started and be successful in a competitive industry.

HST only take on a select group of elite dancers from all over the world who are then mentored by successful professionals working in the legendary LA entertainment scene.
