Barry Allen, from Accrington, ran the Kings Arms and later the Arden Inn in the 1990s with his partner Marion.
The pair married in 2000 and lived together in St Ledger Court in Accrington, where he died suddenly on Thursday, April 5.
Mrs Allen, 67, said: “He’d do anything for anyone.
“We always had a great laugh together.
“He was a real comedian.”
Mr Allen also worked at Accrington and Rossendale College and Moorhead School as a caretaker, and also at Blackburn Rovers FC steward.
He also organised the Hyndburn Independent Pool League.
His funeral will take place on Wednesday at Accrington Cemetery in Burnley Road from 3pm.
