Threats man before court

A MAN assaulted a woman, threw chocolates at her and harassed her by sending Facebook messages and going to her workplace.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Ryan Hope, aged 25, of New Drake Green, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences between May and July last year.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months and must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Shoplifter jailed for 26 weeks

A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for 26 weeks after she appeared before Bolton magistrates and admitted a string of thefts.

Kirsty Lomax, aged 42, of Rawsthorne Street, Bolton, stole skincare products, worth £834, from Boots in Bolton on February 6 and then another load of skin products, worth £898, from the same store two days later.

She also admitted taking a power drill, worth £100, from B&Q on February 22 and razors, valued at 95, from Superdrug on February 22.

Lomax was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

The court heard that, at the time of the offences, Lomax was already subject to a suspended prison sentence for similar thefts.

Shoplifter given unpaid work

A SHOPLIFTER who stole bottles of Jack Daniels worth £60 from Tesco in Bolton on March 1 has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Kevin Derbyshire, aged 27, of Barncroft Road, Bolton, was also ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay a total of £200 towards prosecution costs and charges.

Van drink driver banned from the roads

A MAN caught drink driving in a Vauxhall Combo van in Radcliffe has been banned from holding a licence for 40 months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court James Chambers, aged 52, of Toronto Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence in Bolton Road, Radcliffe, on January 29. He was found to have 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of his breath when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He also admitted having no licence allowing him to drive the vehicle or insurance.

Chambers was fined a total of £180 and must also pay £85 towards prosecution costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.

Suspended jail term

A MAN who attacked a woman in her own home has been sentenced to six weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Neil Frain, aged 59, of Horridge Street, Bury, was found guilty of committing the offence on January 3. He must also have treatment for alcohol addiction, participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities and pay a total of £300 in costs and compensation.

Shoplifter stole meat

A SHOPLIFTER who stole meat worth a total of £500 has been sentenced to have treatment for drug addiction for 12 months

Manchester magistrates heard how John Hodgson, aged 49, of Coronation Street, Radcliffe, stole meat from Marks and Spencer in Bury on January 8 and Morrisons two days later.

He admitted the offences and breaching an anti-social behaviour order by entering Bury on February 20.

Hodgson must also participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities and was ordered to pay a total of £160 in compensation.

Woman failed to reveal childcare costs had changed

A WOMAN who failed to notify Bolton Council that her childcare costs had reduced has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

At court Victoria Radford, aged 30, of Oaks Avenue, Bolton, admitted committing the offence, between February 2014 and March 2016, which affected her entitlement to housing benefit.

She was fined £120 and was ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.

Car windows smashed with hammer

A MAN who used a sledgehammer to smash five car windows has been sentenced to do 200 hours of unpaid work.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court David Allen, aged 54, of Knightwood, Beaumont Chase, Bolton, pleaded guilty to causing the damage on January 19.

He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation and must also pay £85 towards prosecution costs plus an £85 victim surcharge.

Suspended sentence for banned driver

A MAN who was caught driving a car after being banned from holding a licence has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Gheorghe Tomescu, aged 21, of Woodfield Street, Bolton, had only recently been disqualified from driving when he drove a Vauxhall Astra on Derby Street, Bolton, on February 19.

He pleaded guilty to committing the offence and also having no insurance.

Tomescu was sentenced to eight weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and was ordered to do 140 hours of unpaid work.

He was also told he must pay £200 in costs and charges and was banned from applying for a driving licence for 18 months.

Drug driver given work order

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 160 hours of unpaid work after he was caught driving having taken cocaine and cannabis.

Shafiq Raja, aged 22, of Dinsdale Drive, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences while driving a VW Golf on Folds Road, Bolton, on October 7.

Bolton magistrates also banned Raja from holding a driving licence for 18 months.

Drunk and disorderly

A MAN who pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Olive Street, Bolton, on February 4 has been fined £40 by Bolton magistrates.

Anil Pankhania, aged 40, of Olive Street, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £85 towards prosecution costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.

Phone call man fined

A MAN who admitted making a offensive phone call has been fined by magistrates.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Thomas Jones, aged 30, of Kestrel Avenue, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to the offence by making a call that was indecent, obscene or menacing, on January 8.

He was fined £80 and was also ordered to pay his victim £50 in compensation.

He was also told he must pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Drink drive pensioner

A PENSIONER has been banned from holding a licence for 12 months.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Derek Greenwood, aged 68, of St George’s Crescent, Worsley, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Kia Ceed in Bradford Street, Farnworth, on January 5.

He was also fined £140 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Cannabis driver fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a motorist £180 after he was caught driving an Audi without insurance and after taking cannabis.

Yamin Daynamawala, aged 20, of Louisa Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on December 4 last year in Marsh Fold Lane, Bolton.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £115 in costs and charges.

Banned motorist spared

A BANNED driver took his neighbour's car without permission and was involved in a crash.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Tommy Dawson, aged 31, of Lea Gate, Bolton, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Dawson pleaded committing the offences whilst driving the Ford Focus in Bolton Road, Bradshaw, on August 10 last year.

He also admitted failing to provide a drink drive breath specimen and having no insurance.

The court banned him from applying for driving licence for 18 months and he was ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

He must also pay a total of £200 in costs and charges.

Woman stole wallet

A WOMAN who stole a man’s wallet and used his debit card to make purchases has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction for six months.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Sarah Farrell, aged 35, of Little Holme Walk, Bolton, pleaded guilty to theft and five counts of fraud and attempted fraud committed on January 24.

She was sentenced to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities, fined £40 plus £85 in prosecution costs and must pay her victim £200 in compensation.

Careless driver fined

A WOMAN who was caught driving a Mercedes without a licence or insurance has been fined by Bolton magistrates.

Julianna Balog, aged 22, of Langford Gardens, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences on October 14 when she was driving in Vernham Walk, Bolton.

She also admitted driving without care and attention.

The court fined her £200 and also ordered her to pay £85 towards prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Sentenced for harassment

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to have treatment for alcohol addiction after he admitted harassing two people by going to their home and threatening violence.

Damien Berry, aged 33, of Church Road, Smithills, pleaded guilty to committing the offence between November 19 and 24 last year.

Bolton magistrates sentenced him to participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities, fined him £140 and ordered him to pay £185 in costs and charges.

A restraining order was made banning Berry from contacting his victims or going to Frances Street or Eskrick Street.

Threatening messages sent

A MAN who harassed a women and man by sending them numerous threatening messages and been sentenced to do 200 hours of unpaid work.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Grant Taylor, aged 25, of George Barton Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences between December 1 and January 7. Taylor was ordered to pay a total of £170 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims or going to Langdale Avenue in Levenshulme.

Jailed for ignoring order

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for eight months after he ignored a restraining order.

Anthony Berry, aged 28, of Paulhan Street, Great Lever, is banned from contacting a woman but he breached the court order by contacting her on January 27 and February 3.

Manchester magistrates heard how Berry had only recently been released from prison and had been violent to the victim on a number of occasions.

Berry pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order and, in addition to the prison sentence, was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Assault man sentenced

A MAN has been ordered to pay £500 in compensation after assaulting a woman and damaging her chair, door and tablet on December 4 last year.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Anthony Bates, aged 29, of Mort Fold, Little Hulton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was sentenced to a conditional discharge for 15 months.

Jailed for New Year attack

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 16 weeks after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on New Year’s Eve.

Manchester Magistrates’ Court heard how Daniel Kirkman was under the influence of drink and drugs when he carried out a sustained and repeated assault on the woman.

Kirkman, aged 32, of School Street, Little Lever, was ordered to pay his victim £150 in compensation and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her.

Man ignored court order

A MAN who ignored a restraining order and contacted a woman has been sentenced to do 80 hours unpaid work.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Niall Ashworth, aged 21, of Chester Avenue, Little Lever, admitted committing the offence in December last year.

He was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

Unpaid work after damage

A MAN who damaged a door and car windscreen on January 19 has been sentenced to do 60 hours unpaid work.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Warren Mason, aged 34, of Jackson Street, Kearsley, pleaded guilty to committing the offences.

He was also ordered to pay £185 in compensation and costs.

Assault man sentenced

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 40 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on November 20 last year.

Christopher Neary, aged 34, of Heath Gardens, Bolton, also pleaded guilty to destroying her phone and was also ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £205 in costs and charges.

Shoplifter jailed for 28 days

A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for 28 days.

Nicola Longworth, aged 33, of Russell Court, Farnworth, appeared at Bolton Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to stealing goods worth £17.96 from Quality Save Stores in Salford and items, worth £118, from Shanghai Stores in Bolton on two occasions

In addition to the sentence she was ordered to pay £118 in compensation.
