GATE posts may be all that remain of the school but pupils memories of their time there live on.

Those school day memories will once again be shared again at a reunion of Folds Road School’s ex-pupils.

The get together comes after The Bolton News’ popular Looking Back section ran a series of articles on the school, of which many people have fond memories have.

This is the first big reunion held in around three decades years and is open to those who attended the school, where a car dealership now stands.

Interest in the school was sparked by people noticing the gate posts on the road and readers were asked if they had any information about the history of them. It emerged they were the entrance to the school.

A number of people who contacted The Bolton News say the school still holds a special place in the heart of those who went there. Famous footballers were pupils at Folds Road including Tommy Lawton and Bill Holden as well as former Bolton MP Frank White.

Helping to organise the reunion is Albert Smith, who attended the school in the 1960s.

Mr Smith, who lives in Breightmet, said: “This is the first reunion that has been held for ex-pupils in 30 years.

“We are getting a lot of interest on Facebook with people wanting to attend and we just want as many people to know about the reunion as possible.”

The reunion will take place on Saturday, March 24 at Little Lever Conservative Club, starting at 7.30pm. For ticket information email foldsrd1960@gmail.com or ring 07952989105.
