WELL it’s certainly been an eventful week or so hasn’t it?

A win at Bournemouth to spoil former boss Eddie Howe’s 40th birthday party, a defeat at rejuvenated Leicester City and the body blow of seeing Robbie Brady ruled out for the season with a knee injury.

There’s never a dull moment being a Burnley fan.

Three points from those two away games is a decent return, especially given the loss of Brady midway through the first half of the Leicester game when the wingman was just getting into his stride.

That injury really knocked the wind out of our sails and things went a bit flat at the King Power after that.

Losing is never good but we’ve still only tasted defeat four times this term, a remarkable record.

The festive period is now upon us and the Watford game on Saturday is the start of a run of six games between now and the end of the year.

The visit of the Hornets does present a great opportunity to cement our top seven credentials, especially with Marco Silva’s side hot on our tails a place and three points behind.

Watford, much like ourselves, have enjoyed a decent start to the campaign and are another side bucking the trend.

Silva is a top, top manager and I think Watford’s refusal to allow him to drift to Everton is an inspired decision, despite there being an astronomical amount of money on the table.

We could also see a reunion with Andre Gray and despite his career at Vicarage Road perhaps not getting off to the most fruitful start, he’s a constant threat and our backline will have to be at their best.

As with most ex-Clarets, I hope Andre does well at his new club… just not on Saturday!

Sean Dyche has a bit of a dilemma when it comes to replacing Brady but the gut feeling is he’ll go with the ever-dependable Scott Arfield.

Arfield is a player who some sections of the Burnley crowd have written off a couple of times before but I’d back him to come in and really make that spot his own.

I’m sure they’ll be the usual clamour to spend big in January but let’s not forget Dyche’s approach has always been to look closer to home for answers…

And it’s certainly worked so far!
