ANYONE else leave the Turf on Saturday feeling as down in the dumps as me?

I imagine most people reading this of a Claret persuasion will be nodding at that.

We saw football at its cruelest and for many that period from Matt Taylor missing a penalty at one end to Jamie Vardy bundling the ball in at the other was the moment our survival hopes faded.

We’re bottom – that hasn’t changed since last week – and we’re five points adrift with just 12 left to play for. Three of our final four games are away from Turf Moor and we’ve only won five all season. And we’ve only scored once in our last eight games.

Not looking that good is it? Maybe not but mathematically it’s still possible and I’m not willing to give up just yet.

Call me stupid but I’ve been following this club for 25 years and quitting has never been in our blood.

The pundits have written us off since the minute we got promoted last spring, now we’re being written off by our own fans.

So with that in mind I’ve set myself – and any other fans that want to join me – a challenge.

If we survive then I’ll do the National Three Peaks Challenge before 2015 is out.

Now many of you will say that’s a safe bet seeing as survival looks near impossible but I say come and join me if you’re so certain. Let’s get a bit of positivity going.

Just for the record I’ve never climbed anything higher than Pendle Hill so the thought of tackling the largest three peaks on the mainland is quite daunting.

I’ve also set a number of other challenges based on goals scored and points won so there’s plenty of interest for everyone. I’ll be delighted to complete the whole lot if it means another season in the top flight!

And I’ll raise a bit of cash for former chairman Barry Kilby’s Prostate Cancer Appeal so it’s all for a good cause.
