Rodney Aldridge, sponsor of the Darwen Academy, has been named as new chairman of The Lowry arts centre, in Salford.
The former Capita chief executive's company, Rodney Aldridge Charitable Trust, is sponsoring the £35 million plan to replace Darwen Moorland High School with the academy. He replaces the late Charles Levison at Salford.
Mr Aldrige said The Lowry's social agenda was "particularly appealing".
