DOG owners across Pendle are facing a crackdown when the borough introduces a control order.
The regulations will replace the Dogs (fouling of land) Act 1996, which only allowed the council to designate certain areas in which owners could be fined for dog fouling.
The regulations under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act will allow Pendle Council to put a blanket order on all open land accessible by the public.
The powers may be brought in after consultation with local access forums, the Countryside Agency, and the council's area committees.
Owners who leave dog mess behind can already be given a £75 on-the-spot fine. Extra regulations can be put on other areas, forcing dogs to be kept on leads, excluding them from the land or limiting the number of dogs one person can take into the area.
