INTRUDERS broke into a Darwen primary school in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
A glass pane in a back door at St Edwards RC Primary School, Blackburn Road, was smashed by burglars to get into the building.
The break-in is thought to have happened between midnight and 7am.
After inquires in the area, noises have been reported to have been heard coming from the school at about 2.40am.
Police are appealing to the offenders to hand themselves in after finding evidence which had been left behind.
Officers have not revealed what was discovered at the scene so as not to hinder the investigation.
It is thought the culprits were disturbed and it is not yet known if anything was stolen.
