A PENSIONER walking along a pavement died after a car skidded out of control and crashed into him.
MIchael Toman, 78, died a few hours after the crash in Newchurch Road, Bacup, from severe head and leg injuries, according to police.
Officers said that the driver of the Citroen Saxo passed a breathalyser at the scene.
He was not arrested.
Police said they were investigating what had caused the Saxo to skid off the road.
Police appealed for witnesses to come forward.
