A HOTEL is hoping to raise £80,000 before Christmas by holding a series of charity nights.

The Dunkenhalgh, Clayton-le-Moors, has launched the push in aid of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

Ivan Lynch, hotel manager, said: "All money raised will go direct to the charity, and we are really keen to work together to give the organisation a fabulous festive package that will reflect just how much we all care."

Throughout December the hotel will be encouraging people to take part in raffles at their party nights, giving people the chance to win dinner for two as first prize, or a bottle of champagne as second prize.

The charity has been picked by the hotel, part of the Macdonald group, to raise the profile of the community's carers "at this particularly caring time of the year".

It has been nominated as the hotel's preferred charity for almost six years.
