A ROSSENDALE black pudding maker has brought home the bacon once again, sweeping the board at an international competition by winning seven awards.

Andrew Holt's black pudding recipes earned him four gold and two silver medals plus the prize for best British entry at the International Black and White Pudding Competition in Ransart, Belgium.

Andrew, of the Haslingden-based Real Lancashire Black Pudding Company, entered the competition alongside his son Brett, who proved to be a chip of the old block by winning a gold and silver at his first attempt.

Andrew's new adventurous recipes including black pudding with summer fruits, cajun black pudding and white pudding with pecan nuts, wowed the judges in Belgium, only one week after he was awarded two gold medals for black and white puddings at a competition in Austria.

Andrew, whose tally of awards is now 136, said: "I am proud of Brett's achievement.

"We worked very hard to make the products and had to burn some midnight oil to get them ready to send and the competition was on the same weekend as the annual black pudding festival which made the task even harder!"
