AN upholsterer threw a brick through his brother's window after he "lost it" over a family dispute, a court was told.

Burnley magistrates heard Stephen Fallon, 24, took the brick from his own garden, drove to the victim's house and struck knowing people were watching in the "alcohol-fuelled" incident. Fallon admitted causing £100 damage.

The defendant, of Oak Street, Colne, was given a 12-month conditional discharge with £100 compensation and £55 costs.

Nick Cassidy, defending, said Fallon had seen his brother in Colne, he had been drinking, they argued and he accepted his temper got the better of him.

In 2000, the defendant's record was "horrendous", the court heard, but he had been to prison and since 2003, apart from one court appearence, had led a law-abiding life.

Mr Cassidy said: "The prison sentence he received gave him a stark lesson...The dispute is now ended and he doesn't speak to his brother."
