A YOB who repeatedly broke an Anti-Social Behaviour Order has been jailed.

Anthony Waddington, 21, who is banned from Brunshaw estate, Burnley, after causing trouble and making residents' lives a misery, has breached his ASBO 10 times.

He had earlier been given a suspended sentence for not complying with it, but did not take much notice of that either, Burnley magistrates heard.

Waddington, of Lyndhurst Road, Burnley, had been convicted of one count of breaching the ASBO, two counts of failing to comply with a community order, and failing to surrender.

He admitted two allegations of flouting the ASBO, and three of breaching a suspended sentence.

Waddington was jailed for 241 days.

Silvia Dacre, prosecuting, told the court Waddington had breached the ASBO three more times.

On July 4, he shouted abuse and swore at a man, and then threatened to smash up his car and windows.

On July 7, Waddington, who is not allowed to drink alcohol in public, was arrested after being spotted drinking a blue WKD on a fairground at Fulledge.

Miss Dacre said two weeks later Waddington behaved in a violent and threatening manner to an off-duty police officer.

The court was told Waddington had earlier been given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, for four breaches of the ASBO, but failed to keep appointments with the probation service.

He had also been given a 36-hour attendance centre order for flouting the ASBO, but never went.

Waddington gave no reasonable explanations for his absences, but claimed he found it difficult to keep appointments, the court heard.

Trevor Grice, defending, said it was conceded the offences warranted custody, but urged the bench to keep a "sense of reality" when sentencing.

Mr Grice said Waddington had not offended for four months.

Waddington and his brother had got jobs with a fairground, working seven days a week, for £10 a week, he said.

That had taken him away from the area.

The solicitor added: "When he's away from the Brunshaw area, it's clear he doesn't offend."
