DRIVERS in Burnley were left in lengthy queues due to emergency gas works.
Temporary traffic lights have been installed at the junction of A679 Active Way and Westgate.
Emergency repairs are being carried out by workers from the National Grid on the gas main at the roundabout, which is one of the main routes into town.
The road has been left gridlocked during rush hours.
It is estimated that the work will take several days to complete.
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "We advise drivers to allow more time for journeys as the temporary traffic lights are controlling the four roads at this junction.
"These are emergency works and we have been informed that teams will be working around the clock to carry out the necessary repairs.
"We are working closely with National Grid to minimise disruptions caused by the works."
The town centre roads affected by the temporary traffic signals are A679 Active Way, Westgate, Queen's Lancashire Way and St James' Street.
