A DEAL has been signed between Lancashire's county bosses and the Pension Service to reduce bureaucracy and improve services.

Bosses at county hall hope that pensioners across Lancashire will benefit from the signing of a formal agreement between the Pension Service and the county council's Adult and Community Services Directorate.

The Pension Service is responsible for payment of state benefits to a pensioner population in excess of 190,000 across Lancashire.

John Collins, service delivery manager in Lancashire, said: "The county council's adult services finance team visits many of the same pensioners as we do.

"In efforts to provide a more streamlined and joined up service, we have reached an agreement with the council to work more closely together to avoid the need for duplication of form filling and to provide a better service."
