POLICE will be patrolling Blackburn's streets with dogs in a bid to prevent break-ins after seven schools were targeted in just one week.
Officers have launched operation School Break as a result of the crimes, with officers working undercover and high-visibility patrols taking to the streets.
Around 20 officers assigned to the operation will be supported by armed response officers and the dogs unit to catch the offenders.
Since November 20, break-ins have been reported at Our Lady and St John's, St Luke and St Philip's, Beardwood, and twice each at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar and Witton Park.
In addition officers revealed that St Luke and St Philip's was also targeted on November 4.
On each occasion, the raiders have smashed a window to get into the premises to steal computer and electrical equipment.
Insp Claire Holbrook said: "I am more than confident that we will catch those responsible and I urge members of the public to contact us with any information they may have to help us in our inquiries."
