A Darwen man who used cannabis to keep him calm and for pain relief decided to grow his own.
Blackburn magistrates heard that a police raid at the home of Dominic Hugh McKenna revealed 21 plants being cultivated.
And the discovery landed McKenna back in prison to serve the unexpired period of a previous sentence.
McKenna, 28, of Victoria Street, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.
He was fined £250 and ordered to serve 14 days in lieu of immediate payment to run consecutive to his current sentence.
The court heard that McKenna had been convicted of cultivating cannabis in 2002.
Daniel King, defending, said McKenna had suffered an ear infection which had left him with a very painful perforated ear drum and that he used the drug for the pain.
