EAST Lancashire's first shop dedicated wholly to selling Fair Trade goods was due to open today.
Ocarina, Albert Road, Colne, was opening its doors for the first time at 10am.
The shop, is the first in the area to sell only Fair Trade and eco-friendly products.
Owner Maria Stansfield said fair trade did not just mean coffee and bananas and she wanted to raise awareness of the range of goods which could be sold.
She said: "I have felt for a long time that Pendle can do more to support Fair Trade.
"In 2003, Pendle became the first borough in the UK to be awarded Fair Trade status by the Fair Trade Foundation and since then there has been significant steps taken by the Pendle Fair Trade group to increase awareness and encourage local business to stock fair trade products.
"My mission is to increase awareness of the hundreds of other fair trade products available."
