A HI tech company in East Lancashire has landed a series of new contracts worth more than £4million, that includes a deal with one of the world's largest video game retailers.

K3 Business Technology Group plc, which employs 60 people in its offices in Nelson and Colne, has agreed a £2million deal with American-based GameStop Corp, a firm which has 4,600 computer game stores worldwide.

Consultants at the East Lancashire offices will be working on the deal, which will see specialist software installed to help Gamestop run its business.

The news comes just weeks after the firm also secured five new contracts through its Retail Software Division worth a total of £2.3million over the next 12 months in the fashion and household goods industries.

But in the latest deal, K3, which supplies and offers support for IT technology in the retail, distribution and manufacturing sectors, will install software in Gamestop Corp's regional head offices in Europe, the Pacific Rim and the Americas.

The first installation, for Europe, is expected to be complete by next May.

The work will include systems for handling inventory management, warehousing and financial management, managing data from thousands of stores.

The deal was offered K3 after it installed software in Gamestop Corp's Ireland offices, where it has a number of stores. The equipment is known as Microsoft Dynamics NAV software.

The other deals will involve unnamed retailers.

Andy Makeham, Chief Executive Officer for K3, said: "This is a prestigious win for K3 and follows the successful installation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV software for the retailer's stores in Ireland.

"I hope there are future opportunities for us to deepen our relationship with this highly successful retailer."
