A TAXI driver who spoke to a distressed teenager after she claimed to have been raped is being sought by police in the hope he may be able to provide vital information about the attack.
A passing police car picked up the 16-year-old at around 2.10am on Saturday November 11.
She said that she had been given alcohol and cannabis by her attackers before they drove her out to a remote area.
She was then allegedly submitted to an ordeal lasting several hours.
The girl told police that she had managed to escape from her attackers and had been knocking on doors along St Ives Road, Knuzden, heading towards the Intack traffic lights.
She also flagged down a taxi, driven by an Asian man.
Police hope the driver might remember speaking to the girl, who was white, and wearing blue jeans, a grey hooded top over a blue vest and white training shoes.
DS Nigel Watson said: "There is no suggestion this man was involved in any way other than seeing the girl in a distressed state.
"We urge him to come forward so that he can help us with our investigations."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Watson on 01200 458741.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed to return on January 10.
