ALTHOUGH Chorley hit three for the first time this season to end a 495-minute goal-drought, they were undone by Goole's new shooting star Andy Parton who struck four times in a game notable for spectacular finishing.

Parton neatly headed in a free kick at the back post on four minutes to set Goole on their way and rifled in a second from the edge of the box after 33minutes.

James McDaid hit a fierce cross-shot past Mark Thornley for Goole's third before James Sheppard, on loan from Bamber Bridge, finally got the Magpies on the scoresheet just before the break, drilling home a Neil Wright centre from short range.

However, hopes of a Chorley recovery disappeared a minute into the second half when Parton completed a hat-trick with a superb first-time volley but again the Magpies hit back within four minutes, defender Steve Williams rising above everyone to meet a corner with a towering header into the net.

At the other end, Williams denied Parton with a clearance off the line but on 59 minutes Parton did bag his fourth, outpacing James Mullineux before firing in an unstoppable shot.

A cracking finish by Duncan Bray from the edge of the box made it six for Goole in the 65th minute, after which Chorley keeper Thornley had to retire with a torn hamstring, Ian Callaghan taking over in goal.

To his credit Callaghan prevented any further Goole goals and it was Chorley who had the final say, Jordan Goodeve netting his first for the club with an intelligent lob from fully 35 yards which caught the Goole keeper way off his line.

As Gerry Luczka's Magpies finished strongly, substitute Adam Roscoe had a shot blocked on the line and Goodeve sent a first-time effort over the bar.

An entertaining spectacle for the neutral observer but Chorley's defensive cover was often too readily blown, resulting in their wretched run stretching to 14 games without a win.
