ONE of Blackburn's most popular live music events, Corrupted, will welcome a rock legend on stage on November 24 when Dogs D'Amour frontman Tyla comes to town.

Corrupted organisers Mark "Wordy" Worden and Paul Ashley have toured with Tyla for the past four years filming him for documentary DVDs - after an unlikely meeting in an internet chat room in 2002.

Paul, a big fan of Dogs D'Amour, had been visiting Tyla's official website and once Tyla realised he was a cameraman for Manchester United TV he asked to meet up for a fly-on-the-wall documentary.

The relationship went from there and Paul and Mark have released three DVDs over the last four years.

Now the wildman performer has agreed to play at the pair's special Corrupted Unplugged night as a gesture of gratitude for their hard work.

"As a kind of 'thank you' for all the work we have put in he has agreed to play our favourite local rock pub, The Sir Charles Napier," explained Mark.

For those who don't remember Dogs D'Amour, their music can be described as a mixture of Rolling Stones and Faces-style roots rock and Hanoi Rocks-style glam punk with a do-or-die attitude.

Memorable apects of Dogs D'Amour include Tyla's tendency to cut himself on stage which, on one occasion, resulted in him needing internal stitches and left him with a 30cm scar.

Thankfully he is a reformed character from his rock star days and has quit drinking - but that hasn't affected his cult status and he has a huge following of fans.

Tyla still constantly tours with Dogs D'Amour and as a solo artist.

He has released 17 solo CDs and 13 Dogs D'Amour CDs, selling more than 300,000 records worldwide.

Support for Tyla at the Corrupted Unplugged event is from local favourites The Exorsisters, who are known for their wild onstage antics but will be playing an acoustic set for the first time.

Also playing are Lancaster's Hooker and Faded Souls' Chris Kenyon.

See Dogs D'Amour frontman Tyla at The Sir Charles Napier, Friday, November 24 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
