THE ancient art of willow weaving has been handed down to a new generation as part of a community project to build a resting place for ramblers.
Members of Baxenden Community Forum, including children Stacy Hugman and Zack Leigh, were given lessons in willow weaving by Jeff Allen, from the environmental charity Prospects.
The 10-strong group were able to put their training to good use and created a large willow seat in Woodnook Vale.
Sheila McVan, secretary of the group, said: "We were very proud of our work and it is hoped to hold some more training sessions as more people wanted to be involved than we could accommodate."
Baxenden Forum meet on the fourth Monday of each month at 7.30pm in the Alma Inn, Manchester Road, Baxenden.
The next meeting will be held on Monday November 27. New members welcome. Contact Mrs McVan on 01254 384619 for more information.
