LANCASHIRE’S favourite Strictly Come Dancing star Natalie Gumede will appear in a new series of BBC daytime drama, Moving On.

The Burnley-born actress, who played villain Kirsty Soames in Coronation Street, will star in one of the five stand alone episodes in the fifth series of the acclaimed drama written by Jimmy McGovern, who has penned such hit dramas such as Cracker and Brookside.

Other actors set to appear in the series are Anita Dobson (EastEnders), Anthony Flanagan (The Village), Jo Joyner (EastEnders), Sharon Horgan (Pulling) and Craig Kelly (Coronation Street).

The show will break new ground as it will be the first BBC television programme to premiere on iPlayer, meaning it will be shown online before it hits TV screens.

One of the episodes in the series, set to screen in the next few weeks, will be directed by St Helens comedian Johnny Vegas, who made his directorial debut in 2011 with Little Crackers before going on to direct an earlier episode of Moving On.

Meanwhile, Natalie has been shimmying in Strictly sequins on the BBC’s flagship dance competition and the Lancashire Telegraph launched a campaign to get our girl that glitterball.

Natalie has been training hard with her professional partner Artem Chigvintsev for their samba dance performance on tomorrow night’s show.
