MEMBERS of Bacup Operatic and Dramatic Society are toasting the Queen after receiving a letter of thanks for their tribute to her Diamond Jubilee earlier this summer.
BAODS’ two-night concert of songs from the 60 years of Queen Elizabeth’s reign was filmed, and a DVD recording and programme were sent to Buckingham Palace, prompting a letter of thanks on the Queen’s behalf.
Vice chairman Simon Parker said the group wanted to stage something special in honour of the Queen’s visit to Lancashire.
“We were all thrilled when we received such a lovely letter.”
The society is planning celebrations to mark 120 years of ‘continuous entertainment’ at their Royal Court Theatre base.
