IT was like a Who’s Who of children’s TV and my little smashers were in their element.

Megan’s eyes lit up when Angelina Ballerina pirouetted on to the stage, while Phoebe was equally transfixed by Fifi, the Flowertots and the confetti poured on dad’s head by one of the Little Big Club band members.

You little tricksters!

The dream team of kids’ characters included Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Barney and a cameo from Pingu — that’s if a 7ft penguin can make such an appearance — and everyone had their favourite.

The four-piece band, whose instruments ‘magically’ played themselves (miming to you and me), needed little encouragement in getting the young fans singing, clapping and doing whatever else they were told to do.

And it all proved to be a winning formula, which is no surprise given how popular the touring show has been both at home and abroad.

The stars of the show appeared in bite-size chunks (roughly the attention span of a four-year-old), all seamlessly put together by the band with their sunshine smiles, sing-along songs and bucketful of confetti reserved for one unsuspecting adult.
