TWO former members of Padiham girl band Bliss, who toured with Steps in the ’90s, have joined a new girl band after 10 years.

Former Bliss girls Laura Heyworth and Marie Atkinson, who quit the highly-rated group just days after appearing at Wembley Arena, will make their debut at a major rock gig tomorrow night headlined by The Faces.

The new all-girl group Our Lady Muse (OLM) will appear at PoloRocks, where they will perform their first release, written in support of the England rugby team’s campaign for the World Cup, which starts in just over a month.

Both girls left Bliss in 2001 after enjoying a two-year whirlwind success story with third member Abigail Jackson, during which they were catapulted from the pub scene to gigs supporting A1, Steps and Craig David.

Since then, the ambitious pair have been working on individual projects but now they couldn’t be more excited about tomorrow’s concert at Hurtwood Park, Surrey, held each year after the Chakravarty Cup polo match.

PoloRocks is billed as one of the most high-profile concerts of the year.

In aid of The Prince’s Charities, it is well known for an A-list celebrity guest list which includes Princes William and Harry.

This year’s headline act are rock legends The Faces, with Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones, The Who’s Kenney Jones, Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols on bass and Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall filling original Faces singer Rod Stewart’s shoes.

Marie said: “Supporting the Prince’s Charities is a real honour, Burnley has benefited more than most towns through the financial support they provide.

"We want to thank everyone that made the song and concert happen with a personal thanks to Cris Nuttall at record label All Around The World in Blackburn whose help was invaluable.

“We’re excited about the concert, with the big rumour of course being that Rod Stewart may join The Faces on stage for the first time in 30 years”.

Laura added: “This is the first of some fantastic promotional shows.

"At the moment all the performances are in the south of England, but we certainly intend to find an opportunity to give the song its Northern debut and let’s rally support for the England Rugger boys!”
